On Thursday, April 25th, 2013 ...

  • Gov. Chris Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christie are in Dallas to attend the dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, 10 a.m. Central time, on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas. They'll return to New Jersey this afternoon.
  • U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation hosts "Hiring Our Heroes-Camden," a hiring fair for veterans military spouses, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden. Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, as acting governor, is there at 11 a.m.
  • Democratic gubernatorial candidate Sen. Barbara Buono holds an 11 a.m. news conference at Pantry 1 Food Mart in Trenton regarding the contract the state intends to award for partial private management of the New Jersey Lottery. She's joined by Communications Workers of America NJ legislative and political director Seth Hahn and store manager Hiten Patel.
    • At 4 p.m., Buono is joined by Sen. Nicholas Sacco -- who is also mayor and local assistant superintendent of schools -- and union officials at a meet-and-greet with North Bergen Federation of Teachers Local 1060.
    • Later, around 6 p.m., Buono attends the Burlington County Democratic Committee's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner at The Merion Caterers in Cinnaminson. Olympic track star Carl Lewis -- who tried to run for state Senate two years ago but was disqualified for not living in New Jersey long enough to qualify -- is also a special guest.
  • Assembly Budget Committee reviews the proposed budgets for the Department of the Treasury and interdepartmental accounts at 10 a.m., then the judiciary at 2 p.m., in the Statehouse Annex's Committee Room 11.
    • After the hearing, it will meet to consider a bill that merges five economic-development incentive programs into two.
  • Senate Environment & Energy Committee meets at 10 a.m. in Committee Room 10, to consider a package of bills dealing with flood elevations, dune construction, development on piers and beach rebuilding and operation.
  • Chief Justice Stuart Rabner speaks at a ceremony marking the dedication of the Linda R. Feinberg Learning Center at the Mercer County Criminal Courthouse, 3 p.m. in Trenton. Feinberg was the first woman assignment judge to lead the Mercer vicinage.
  • At 1 p.m. in Washington, the House Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, and Insular Affairs holds a hearing on a bill sponsored by U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan that reauthorizes the volunteer programs and community partnerships for the benefit of national wildlife refuges, such as the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Barnegat section and Brigantine.
  • Public Employment Relations Commission meets, 10 a.m. in Trenton.
  • Health Care Facilities Financing Authority meets, 10 a.m. in Trenton.
  • State Board of Chiropractic Examiners meets, 9:30 a.m. in Newark.
  • Ralph Loveys, a former Morris County assemblyman and New Jersey Turnpike Authority chairman, turns 84.
  • U.S. Marshal Juan Mattos Jr. turns 58.
  • Superior Court Judge Lisa Vignuolo turns 45.
